Getting to know Jillian Mittiga
Over the 15 years, working with adults, adolescents, children, and families as a therapist, it’s been my goal to help clients get to a place where they feel safe, happy, and confident. I’ve been successfully treating people with Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and trauma-informed, person-centered, treatments.
I love meeting new people and believe that therapy can be beneficial for anyone!
What should a new client know about working with you?
I see myself as compassionate, reliable, and empathetic. I am non-judgmental and never force advice. I want my clients to feel comfortable and be able to express themselves.
My therapy is client-driven; we work at your pace. Being easygoing, I love hearing the client’s point of view. I do my best to offer insights into your life experiences and ways to manage your feelings with a collection of skills and strategies.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Establishing rapport and relationship building is a big part of my process. A client must trust the person they are working with before any change can be made. I’d like to make sure that clients feel heard and are able to describe what their expectations are from treatment so that they can decide what their goals are. Once their goals are established, it is much easier to determine what small steps can be taken to reach them. We may also take a strengths-based approach where we look to build on your already existing strengths to confront what’s bothering you.
Going through relationship issues has been hard, let alone the common anxieties of life. Working with Jillian, I got much calmer, doing therapy with her really took the edge of it all. My decision making has been approved. She’s been professional, caring, and supportive all through. I’m appreciative that I got to work with Jillian!
