Personal biography

Getting to know Jillian Mittiga

Over the 15 years, working with adults, adolescents, children, and families as a therapist, it’s been my goal to help clients get to a place where they feel safe, happy, and confident. I’ve been successfully treating people with Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and trauma-informed, person-centered, treatments.

I love meeting new people and believe that therapy can be beneficial for anyone!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I see myself as compassionate, reliable, and empathetic. I am non-judgmental and never force advice. I want my clients to feel comfortable and be able to express themselves.

My therapy is client-driven; we work at your pace. Being easygoing, I love hearing the client’s point of view. I do my best to offer insights into your life experiences and ways to manage your feelings with a collection of skills and strategies.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Establishing rapport and relationship building is a big part of my process. A client must trust the person they are working with before any change can be made. I’d like to make sure that clients feel heard and are able to describe what their expectations are from treatment so that they can decide what their goals are. Once their goals are established, it is much easier to determine what small steps can be taken to reach them. We may also take a strengths-based approach where we look to build on your already existing strengths to confront what’s bothering you.

How does it work?

01
Evaluation

We meet for an hour to discuss what’s bringing you in and how I can help. We’ll outline a plan of action and schedule around implementing it. There is a free consultation before this if you’re unsure if this is the right fit for you.

02
Therapy

After the evaluation, we’ll decide how frequently to meet and work through a treatment plan that we make together to address the goals you have for treatment.

03
Maintenance

After achieving your goals with therapy, sessions may end or they can enter a maintenance form for touching base and more subtle course corrections if desired (usually conducted much less frequently).

04
Location

Currently, all of our appointments are being offered remotely via video calls.

05
Out of Pocket Cost

The upfront cost of 60-minute sessions is $150 if not covered by insurance. Payment is due at the time of service and receipts are provided for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Reviews!

Jillian has been providing treatment to me for some time now. She continues to be a helpful support, accommodating when I need it and a wonderful listener. She has helped me through my anxiety and moments of depression, made recommendations but mainly just made me feel heard when I didn’t feel like I could talk to family and friends about various aspects of my life. She has been so helpful and I feel like I’ve made positive changes to my life with her help that have made the chaos in my life feel better overall. I would recommend her for anyone looking for a friendly face, a helpful bit of advice and an active listener. Thank you Jillian for all your help.
I was afraid of therapy becoming another ‘task’ in my life but meeting with Jillian proved otherwise! There’s been a very positive turn-around for me since we’ve started. Our sessions have been providing me with a new vision towards life. One can’t go through hard times alone; we tend to lose perspective around our own problems. Jillian is there for me with her support and trust; I’m learning from her.

Going through relationship issues has been hard, let alone the common anxieties of life. Working with Jillian, I got much calmer, doing therapy with her really took the edge of it all. My decision making has been approved. She’s been professional, caring, and supportive all through. I’m appreciative that I got to work with Jillian!
