Personal biography

Getting to know Katie Drummond

Looking for a therapist we feel safe enough to be vulnerable with can be overwhelming. Finding the right fit can make all of the difference. Having worked with hundreds of clients as a mental health therapist, I have a lot of experience to draw on to try to make that fit happen for you!

I focus on a trauma-informed and person-centered approach. Throughout treatment, I utilize a mix of evidence-based approaches such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness techniques, all in order to help you achieve your personal goals!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am extremely passionate about what I provide to my clients; I want my clients to feel like therapy is something that they look forward to.

My goal is to provide a safe and empathetic environment that will support clients in learning how to effectively and skillfully process, reflect, and cope with emotions and life experiences. Collaboratively, we work to identify your values and goals in order to help you achieve the life that you aspire to live.

My openings vary from 9am to 4pm Monday through Thursday depending on availability and current bookings. I usually request that clients pick a day and a time to stick with so that we’re both prioritizing that time together consistently.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In order to ensure an environment of comfort and trust, building a therapeutic relationship comes first. Our first session is all about getting to know you and the challenges you might choose to bring in. Then, we work together to identify what goals would be appropriate to be set. Throughout our journey towards these goals, I provide a good deal of validation, psychoeducation, and coping skills -next to some homework-; all of which are a part of evidence-based modalities.

Please Note: the appointment date and time that you schedule is likely going to be the consistent opening that I have to meet with you and it may be difficult to find alternative times to meet.

How does it work?

01
Evaluation

We meet for an hour to discuss what’s bringing you in and how I can help. We’ll outline a plan of action and schedule around implementing it. There is a free consultation before this if you’re unsure if this is the right fit for you.

02
Therapy

After the evaluation, we’ll decide how frequently to meet and work through a treatment plan that we make together to address the goals you have for treatment.

03
Maintenance

After achieving your goals with therapy, sessions may end or they can enter a maintenance form for touching base and more subtle course corrections if desired (usually conducted much less frequently)

04
Location

Currently, all of our appointments are being offered remotely via video calls.

05
Out of Pocket Cost

The upfront cost of 60-minute sessions is $150 if not covered by insurance. Payment is due at the time of service and receipts are provided for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Reviews!

I would 100% recommend Katie if you are looking for an understanding therapist who is also honest and up-front with you. I look forward to my visits with Katie. She is not the kind of therapist who sits back and lets you take up the entire session venting. Katie has provided me with so many different skills to help me with everything that I have been going through. We are still working together, and I appreciate our time together.

I can say that my life has changed incredibly during these past several months. It was a great decision that I made choosing to work with Katie. She definitely knows what she’s doing and is passionate about making you achieve your life goals! This process gives you much confidence at coping with all sorts of emotions. At those hard moments, even just having the support that reminds you that it's temporary, is amazing. But it’s much more than that. She works with you on stuff that would stick with you for life.

I can’t thank Katie enough for helping me during my transition to a new college. She’s helped me build some real confidence. I’ve learned that making friends might require some skills; I am very happy with the circle I’ve ended up in now! Living away from home requires new skills as well. During this whole process, Katie’s been very understanding, super friendly and supportive, while helping me grow. I wanna explore the skills that are required in a job environment, next. -I’m so glad that I’ve found her!
