Getting to know Malerie Staskiewicz
Hi, I’m Malerie. Rather than coming in as one of those cold clinical experts, I take a collaborative approach to therapy, working alongside you as a partner. My focus is on helping you uncover the unconscious narratives that influence your life—those patterns and stories we might not even realize are shaping how we feel, think, and act. It’s a warmer more intuitive approach that aligns with you rather than trying to convince you of something.
What should a new client know about working with you?
In our work together, I lean on experiential techniques that often bring about those “aha” moments—bursts of insight that feel intuitive and meaningful. I use somatic therapy, polyvagal techniques, and bodywork to help you reconnect with yourself, especially if life feels overwhelming or your emotions feel larger than life.
Intuitive doesn’t mean it’s not backed by evidence or isn’t consistent. Rather, it uses techniques that communicate with your emotions and your body directly instead of trying to willpower through things or out-think our problems. You walk away feeling stronger and better able to confront the challenges life has tossed at you.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Treatment usually starts with us forming a therapeutic relationship together and deciding on some goals to work toward. We often explore the narrative that you’re currently playing in your life and start our work by growing there version of you you’d like to become. Sometimes it’s hard to know who that person could be and that’s where I come in. I practice a number of strategies that help to uncover the past to manifest your future.
I work best with people who want to understand themselves on a deeper level, who are ready to explore the complexity of their feelings, and who are open to discovering a different way of being. If that resonates, I’d love to work with you!
Wow, what can I say about Malerie? I met her during a challenging time in my life and tasked her with helping me get out of “crisis zone” and back on a productive path. She was quick to identify issues and bad habits that have plagued me for years, and gave me tools and homework to break the habits and find my authentic center. She is not a “Yes” person and does not coddle me. If she thinks that I am wrong or that I acted poorly in a situation, she is honest with her assessment and clear about how I can improve or adjust going forward. At this point, I have seen Malerie regularly for almost four years and she has guided me through issues with family, friends, career, and my own identity. I know that my therapy is never “done” but it feels like I have made significant progress and have grown into a more aware and mature and confident person. I give a lot of credit to Malerie for this growth. Highly recommended, Malerie is an excellent therapist!
